At the same time the Atmel ICE tool disappears from the Available Tools Window While this is happening the tool is still shown as being available and connected BUT when the driver installation is shown complete the Unknown Device disappears from the device manager window and Atmel-ICE Data Gateway suddenly appears in Device manager under Microchip Tools. The AS7 pdf manual under Chapter 2.4.4 'No Tool Recognized by Atmel Studio." mentions going into Device Manager and choosing "Add Legacy Hardware" but this mentions problems with the Jungo Driver which is not found in device manager now and I think that you said was no longer needed for Atmel-ICE. but can't locate all of those threads now but I am looking. I have seen some threads concerning the "Command Prompt" tool to check and try to locate where essential drivers, etc.

If AS7 is not recognizing ICE in View "Available Atmel Tools" OR selecting "Device Programming" then it can't update automatically. Since there seems to be quite a few threads on this topic it seems like Microchip should put a little more effort into either the software, hardware, or firmware!!!!!!
